In Flight

Perched on the highest branch

I wait

Watching

You climb, you teeter, you fall

Like all who’ve come before

Too much, the branch breaks

You grapple and groan your way to the ground

Not enough, the wind blows

You whirl and wail round in the waft

I can no longer watch

I take flight

And find another tree
